Bluebird and powder for the wintergalactic snowpark opening on Stubai Glacier
Stubai Glacier, Tyrol, Austria – 25 October 2011:
The third edition of the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere went down on Stubai Glacier in Tyrol, Austria, from October 21st to 23rd 2011. Bluebird, fresh powder and the MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo in perfect shape were the ingredients of another perfect winter start. While international snowboard stars and local shredders were riding the park together, the testing area in the brandsaloon was busy all days. A mind-blowing program full of contests, sessions, coachings and parties did not allow any boredom at all.
What a winter start! The snowpark opening at MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo on Stubai Glacier has gone one better again. Bluebird and fresh powder provided the third edition of the MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere with this very special vibe. It was a sheer pandemonium at the brandsaloon, where more than 40 brands showcased their latest products for free testing while the Wax Wreckaz DJ Team was filling the entire area with great sound out of the Zimtstern Lounge. The DC Jib Garden was the place to be for some extraordinary jib action right at the Eisgrat.
The Skullcandy Trick Sessions fired the starting pistol in the MOREBOARDS Stubai Zoo. International snowboard stars like Halldór Helgason and Kareem El Rafie met the local pros Elias Elhardt, Peter König, Benny Wetscher, Mario Wanger and many more to shred the Zoo together.
Local rider Alex Beer from Innsbruck won the MBM & Quiksilver Keep Snowboarding on Saturday morning. As the best styler of the session he earned a coverage in the "tips and tricks" section of the Snowboarder MBM Magazine.
The “Volcom Stubai Snakepit Season Kickoff” has been the great highlight event, which went down with the presence of the international snowboard elite. Popular snowboarders like Gigi Ruef, Marc Swoboda, Marco Grigis and Anton “Tonton” Holland joined into the contest, competing with the local riders Flo Achenrainer, Tom Klocker and Sani Alibabic and rookies like Felix Georgii and Thomas Hoerhager on a jib bank slalom followed by a multi feature with closeout rail and gap to downpipe and a volcom stone butterbox in the endsection. The riders were competing for a prize purse of 4.086,44 USD, honour and glory. Extraordinary tricks were directly rewarded with 50 US Dollar notes.
It was the Austrian rising star Simon Pircher who won the finals with his fastest run of 13 seconds on the jib bank slalom and a cab 270 frontboard to ergs on the multi feature. Mario Kaeppeli from Switzerland became second with 13,26 seconds on the slalom and a very stylish 50/50 fs 360 out on the closeout rail. The Tyrolean Thomas Hoerhager reached the third place on the podium with 13,31 seconds on the bank slalom and a frontboard popper on the closeout rail.
The Roxy Team riders Aline Bock, Lea Baumschlager, Veronika Rajcsanyi and Lena Stoffl were cruising around the park on Saturday with some motivated shred girls for the Roxy Girls Camp.
With Thomas Enk and Tjark Fritsch, the Billabong Wheel of Fate Contest brought up two winners. Both rookies are raking in a one year Billabong clothing sponsorship. Moritz Amsuess and Seppi Aigner became second and third.
All those, who always desired to ride with the exceptional talent Elias Elhardt, got chance to apply for the Nitro presents Elooa Camps and ride the Zoo with Elias Elhardt during the opening. The best rider was Aljosa Kopina, who won a ticket for the Elooa Camp on Stubai Glacier on December 2nd to 4th 2011.
Ten ambitious movie makers have been filming the opening together with Tom Elliottaps for the Nike & Isenseven Video Workshop. The edit will be posted soon on www.stubai-zoo.com.
No MOREBOARDS Stubai Premiere without party! The Stubai Valley turned into a perfect rider and party location. The Poolarea was shaking with sounds from the Etepetete Girls and DJ A- Skillz until the early Sunday morning.
